Sikkim Minimum Wages have been hiked effective from 11 July 2022 by the State Government. A person who works in any Private Company in Sikkim state then he/she should know about the changes in the rate of Minimum Wages.
Latest Minimum Wages in Sikkim Hiked With Effect From 11 July 2022
Ms. Namrata Thapa, IAS Secretary, Department of Labour, Government of Sikkim has issued the Notification dated 14 September 2022 vide Gazette Notification No. 278 of increased Minimum Wages in Sikkim.
According to this, the Minimum Rates of Wages have been increased for Unskilled, Semi-Skilled, Skilled, and Highly Skilled categories of employees in all Scheduled Employments in Sikkim.
The Latest Minimum Wages in Sikkim with effect from 11 July 2022 will be as follows.

Salary Calculation :
For the calculation of the Total Per Month, you have to multiply the Rates of Daily Wages by 26.
- Total Per Month = Rates of Daily Wages x 26

Definition of Categories
- “Unskilled Work” means work which involves simple operations requiring little or no skill or experience on the job.
- “Semi-Skilled Work” means work which involves some degree of skill or competence, acquired through experience on the job, and which is capable of being performed under the supervision or guidance of skilled employees and includes unskilled supervisory work.
- “Skilled Work” means work which involves skill or competence acquired through experience on the job or through training as an apprentice in a Technical or Vocational Institute and the performance of which calls for initiative and judgment.
- “Highly Skilled Work” means work which calls for degree of perfection and competence in the performance of certain jobs including clerical work acquired through intensive technical or professional training or adequate work experience for certain reasonable period and also require an employee to assume full responsibility for his/her judgment/decision involved in the execution of his/her job.
