Latest Minimum Wages in Maharashtra From 01 July 2022

Mr. Shailendra B. Poul, Dy. Labour Commissioner, Mumbai has issued the Notification on 01 August 2022 of increased Minimum Wages in Maharashtra. According to this, Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) has been increased for the employee who is working under the below category in all Scheduled Employments of Shops and Establishments, Maharashtra.

Latest Minimum Wages in Maharashtra with effect from 01 July 2022 will be as follows.

For the calculation of 1-day salary (Daily Rates), you have to divide the Total Per Month by 26.

Ans: Comprise of the area falling within the limits of all ‘A’ and ‘B’ class Municipal Corporations.

Q: Which areas come under Zone II?

Ans: Comprise of the areas falling within the limits of all ‘C’ and ‘D’ class Municipal Corporations and ‘A’ class of Municipal Councils and Cantonment areas.

Q: Which areas come under Zone III?

Ans: Comprise of all other areas in the state, which are not included in Zone I and Zone II.

Ans: Includes developed areas, viz. Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and Pune Metropolitan Region (PMR).

Ans: Includes areas where some development has taken place.

Ans: Includes areas, which are less developed than those at Group B.

Ans: Includes the lesser-developed areas of the State not covered under Group A, Group B, and Group C.

Ans: Includes those least developed areas not covered under Group A, Group B, Group C, and Group D.

Q: Who is an Un-Skilled employee?

Ans: An un-skilled employee is one, who does operations that involve the performance of simple duties which require the exercise of little or no independent judgment or previous experience, although a familiarity with the occupational environment is necessary. His work may thus require, in addition to physical exertion, familiarity with a variety of articles or goods.

Q: Who is a Semi-Skilled employee?

Ans: A semi-skilled employee is one, who does work generally of a well-defined routine nature, wherein the major requirement is not so much of the judgment, skills and dexterity, but the proper discharge of duties assigned to him for a relatively narrow job and important decisions are made by others. His work is thus limited to the performance of the routine operations of limited scope.

Ans: A skilled employee is one who is capable of working efficiently exercising considerable independent judgment and of discharging his duties with responsibility. He must possess a thorough and comprehensive knowledge of the trade, craft or industry in which he is employed.
