Minimum Wages in Odisha Revised October 2023
The Government of Odisha has recently updated and set the minimum wage rates for various categories of employees, including unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled, and highly skilled workers, across 89 scheduled employments. An official notification dated October 04, 2023 has been released by the Labour Commissioner, Odisha. These revised wage rates will come into effect from October 1, 2023.
Revised Minimum Wages in Odisha From 01 October 2023
The Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) is adjusted based on the rise in the average Consumer Price Index Number. The average Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial workers increased from 378.58 to 385.97 as of June 30, 2023. This indicates a rise of 7.39 points in the average CPI number.
The State Minimum Wages Advisory Board has recommended a system for revising the special allowance known as Variable Dearness Allowance at the rate of Rs. 0.90 per point increase in the Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (Base 2001-100) as permissible.
Calculation of Payable Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA)

Therefore, starting from October 1, 2023, a Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) of Rs. 7.00 per day (rounded off) will be provided to employees across the unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled, and highly skilled categories in all 89 scheduled employments, in addition to the specified minimum wage rates.

Salary Calculation
For the calculation of monthly salary, you have to multiply Minimum Wages with VDA Per Day by 26.
