The Labour Commissioner Organisation, Labour Department of Uttar Pradesh has revised the minimum wages in the state effective from October 1, 2023. The Labour Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Ajay Kumar Mishra has issued an official notification regarding the upward revision of minimum wages. The notification contains details about the increased minimum wage rates applicable across various employment categories in Uttar Pradesh from October 1, 2023. The revised minimum wages will be applicable to workers in scheduled employment across the state as per the Minimum Wages Act, 1948.

Revised Minimum Wages for Shops and Establishments in Uttar Pradesh From 01 October 2023
The minimum wages for workers employed in shops and establishments in Uttar Pradesh have been updated effective October 1, 2023.
As per the official notification dated September 29, 2023, the Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) component of the minimum wage has been revised based on the increased Consumer Price Index from January 2023 to June 2023.
The revised VDA will be applicable to all 74 scheduled employments under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 including shops and establishments.
Therefore, workers in the shops and establishments category in Uttar Pradesh will now be eligible for the increased minimum wage rates from October 1, 2023 onwards as per the latest notification.
The revised minimum wages for shops and establishments in Uttar Pradesh effective from October 1, 2023 will be as under:

Revised Minimum Wages for Bidi Industry in Uttar Pradesh From 01 October 2023
The Labour Department of Uttar Pradesh has revised the minimum wages for workers employed in the bidi industry in the state effective from October 1, 2023.
As per the official notification dated September 29, 2023, the Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) component of the minimum wage has been updated based on the increased Consumer Price Index from January 2023 to June 2023.
This revised VDA will be applicable for workers in the bidi industry in Uttar Pradesh from October 1, 2023 onwards as per the Minimum Wages Act, 1948.
The notification specifies the latest minimum wage rates for the bidi industry in Uttar Pradesh effective from October 1, 2023 across various categories of workers.

The Labour Department of Uttar Pradesh has issued a notification dated September 29, 2023 revising the minimum wages for workers employed in the kaleen (handloom/carpet weaving) industry in the state.
As per the notification, the Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) component of the minimum wage has been updated based on the increased Consumer Price Index from January 2023 to June 2023.
This revised VDA will be applicable to kaleen industry workers in Uttar Pradesh from October 1, 2023 onwards as per the Minimum Wages Act, 1948.
The notification specifies the latest minimum wage rates for various worker categories in the kaleen industry effective October 1, 2023.
Workers employed in the Kaleen industry of Uttar Pradesh will now be entitled to the increased minimum wage rates as per their skill classification from October 2023.
