Previously Jharkhand was part of Bihar State. Jharkhand State was created as a separate state on 15 November 2000. The Government of Jharkhand has adopted the act “The Bihar Shops And Establishment Act, 1953” for the Company/Organization situated under its state. Later, it came to be known as “The Jharkhand Shops and Establishment Rules, 2001”.

Normal Working Hours 9 hours on any day and 48 hours on any week. Chapter II and V of “The Bihar Shops And Establishments Act, 1953”
Interval For Rest After 5 hours of work, the interval of rest of at least half an hour.
Maximum Over Time Hours 1 hour on any day, 54 hours on any week and 150 hours in a year.
Spread over Hours 12 hours on any day
Rate of OT Wages Twice the ordinary rate of wages.
