In view of rising essential commodities prices, just a day ahead of International Workers’ Day, the Odisha Government issued a notification for increased payment of Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) on Saturday i.e. 30-April-2022.
According to this VDA Rs. 11 per day has been increased for Unskilled, Semi-Skilled, Skilled, and Highly Skilled categories of employees in all 89 scheduled employments.
The VDA shall be payable with retrospective effect from 01-April-2022. It shall be payable in addition to the minimum rate of wages.
The notification issued by the Labour Commissioner, Odisha, Mr. N Thirumala Naik stated that the hike will come into effect from 01-April-2022.
Minimum Wages with VDA with effect from 01-April-2022 will be as follows:
- Unskilled- Rs. 326
- Semi-Skilled – Rs. 366
- Skilled – Rs. 416
- Highly Skilled – Rs. 476
The Labour Commissioner stated the hike was made after considering the rate of inflation, consumer price index, prevailing market rate, and minimum wages in neighboring states.
