The Meghalaya government has released the holiday list for state government offices and banks for the year 2024 vide notification (GAA.41/2023/39) dated November 8, 2023.
The notification specifies the General Holidays, Local Holidays, Special Holidays, and Restricted Holidays applicable for government offices in Meghalaya for the year 2024. It also outlines the Bank Holidays for banks operating in the state for the year 2024.
Government employees, bank employees, and the general public are advised to take note of the 2024 holiday list notified for planning their activities and schedules in the coming year.

Offices under the Government of Meghalaya and all Revenue and Magisterial Courts in Meghalaya shall remain closed on the following days of the year 2024.

Meghalaya Government Offices Local Holidays List 2024
The Deputy Commissioners are authorized to declare a maximum of 3 (three) days only as Local Holidays within their respective jurisdiction on the following occasions during the year 2024 except for East Khasi Hills District where State Government in GAD (A) will declare the Local Holidays.
- 53rd Garo Labour Corps Day
- Shad Suk Mynsiem
- Unitarian Anniversary Day
- Shad Nongkrem
- Any other Festival of Local Significance
Meghalaya Government Offices Special Holidays List 2024
A Special Holiday has been announced on 22nd June 2024 to observe “Rev. Thomas Jones Day” for all State Government Offices, Revenue and Magisterial Courts, and Educational Institutions in the districts of East Khasi Hills, South West Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, East Jaintia Hills, West Jaintia Hills, Eastern West Khasi Hills, and Ribhoi.
