Overview

The EPF (Employees’ Provident Fund) Calculator is a tool designed to help you calculate EPF and EPS (Employees’ Pension Scheme) contributions for employees in India. This calculator takes into account various factors including basic salary, contribution rates, and special conditions to provide accurate contribution calculations.

Input Fields

1. Basic Salary

  • Enter the employee’s basic salary in Indian Rupees (₹)
  • Note: There is a maximum ceiling limit of ₹15,000 for EPF calculations
  • The field accepts numerical values only

2. Employee Contribution

  • Default rate is 12%
  • Can be adjusted between 0% and 100%
  • Represents the percentage of basic salary that will be deducted from the employee’s pay

3. Employer Contribution

  • Fixed at 12% (typically split as 8.33% for EPS and 3.67% for EPF)
  • Can be adjusted if needed
  • Represents the employer’s contribution to the employee’s EPF account

4. Calculation Period

Select from four options:

  • Monthly: Calculates contributions for one month
  • Quarterly: Calculates contributions for three months
  • Half Yearly: Calculates contributions for six months
  • Annually: Calculates contributions for twelve months

5. Special Conditions

Apply ₹15,000 Ceiling Limit

  • Check this box to apply the statutory ceiling limit of ₹15,000 for EPF calculations
  • When checked, contributions will be calculated based on ₹15,000 even if the basic salary is higher

Joined After September 2014

  • Check this box if the employee joined EPF on or after September 1, 2014
  • This affects the contribution calculation method:
  • For salaries above ₹15,000: EPS contribution becomes 0%
  • Entire 12% employer contribution goes to EPF instead of being split between EPF and EPS
